On February 5, the Coalition hosted the Philadelphia FTC Qualifier. The event was the first official live in person Pennsylvania FTC event since the state championship in March of 2020. Eighteen teams competed in the Freight Frenzy game in the hopes of securing one of the three slots to move on to the Pennsylvania state championship. In the morning, teams showed off their year of hard work in the judges room. Then they spent hours on the field competing in qualification matches. The top teams then chose their alliance partners to compete with them in the semifinals. After a tough competition, the winning alliance was Calvary Christian Academy’s teams, Trial and Terror (#16800) and Theoretically Correct (#14738). The culminating part of the event was the awards ceremony. Teams took home a number of trophies and medals, but The Inspire Award, which is the highest award in FTC, was given to Bodine Ambassadors (#12308). The judges felt that they were a model FIRST team for their robot work and for the work they’ve done in their school community.
