Company Description

The Philadelphia Robotics Coalition is committed to nurturing the next generation of STEM and community leaders in Philadelphia. We support robotics programs for youth participants in the Philadelphia region, providing robotics training and mentorship for robotics teams. We train coaches and connect youth participants with mentors who guide them on programming, mechanical design, and presentation skills. By participating, students gain technical skills as well as vital workforce skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, social and emotional skills, problem-solving, and time management. Our coalition also facilitates workshops for community organizations and our many partners.

Role Description

This is a hybrid role for a Board Member, with a strong preference for Philadelphia, PA-based candidates. As a Board Member, you will be responsible for providing support in one or more of the following areas: board governance, strategic direction, finances, and general oversight. You will help in fundraising efforts, establishing policies, supporting the execution of our strategic priorities, and ensuring the organization’s financial health. Additionally, you will support the coalition’s mission by advocating for resources, forming strong and healthy partnerships, and serving as an ambassador for the organization within the Philadelphia region and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience in one or more of the following: board governance, strategic planning, fundraising, non-profit policy, non-profit legal support, and/or human resources development
• Strong partnership and ecosystem-building skills preferred
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Passion for STEM education, youth college, and career development
• Prior board experience or experience in a non-profit organization is a plus
• Willingness to commit the necessary time and effort, including attending meetings and events
